SAN LUIS VALLEY REVEGETATION PROGRAM

The San Luis Valley is drying up fast.

In Colorado's San Luis Valley, more and more farm ground is fallowed every year in response to declining groundwater. According to the Rio Grande Water Conservation District, an anticipated 65,000–100,000 irrigated acres must retire to meet state-mandated aquifer recovery goals. Without ecologically viable, economically capable revegetation strategies, this land transition could decimate the region's rural economy.

Our program provides project management, technical assistance, consultation, and education services for public and private revegetation initiatives.
